Despite the recent agreement with the unions and the return to work, the Irish Press Group faces serious problems

On June 29 Dublin band U2 will play to an expected audience of 55,000 in Croke Park. This will be the biggest audience before which they've played as a headlining act. The weekend before this concert they played to an estimated 50,000 at Milton Keynes in Britain.

As Sinn Fein has become more active, members of the government parties have sought to isolate the Provos politically. The record shows, however, that some of those politicians have for years sought support from Sinn Fein - and some continue to do so in so far as it is politically expedient.  By John McHugh
